A new, subscription-based website in under six months - sustainable delivery for a sustainability business

Background

Ecosurety is an environmental consultancy that assists large organisations in complying with packaging and recycling guidelines set by environmental regulations. They exist to help speed up, and drive change towards, an environmentally sustainable world - using data and insights to enable organisations to make sustainable product and packaging decisions. 

Regulations around packaging and recycling in the UK are going through a massive shift, aiming to promote the use of recycled materials, and get producers contributing more towards the eventual recycling of the packaging they put out to market. Many companies will face increasing costs to comply with the new regulations, which means they need to scrutinise their product portfolio to optimise their packaging choices. 

As the first company of their kind to become a B Corp, committing to balance profit and purpose, and meet the highest standards of social and environmental impact, this puts Ecosurety in a unique position to inform and influence these choices.

In order to pull this off, they needed sustainable delivery for a sustainable business. And DCX agency, Reason, did just that and more.

Ecosurety wanted:

  • A new platform where existing and new customers could come to learn about the new regulations and access interactive visualisations that drive decision making
  • To make the platform flexible enough to support future growth and respond to changes in a regulatory environment still in flux
  • To clearly convey the new proposition to existing Ecosurety customers, and offer flexible options for new customers to sign up

Solution

Through close collaboration with key stakeholders, the team embarked on a journey of idea exploration and validation which resulted in the design, build and launch of the Ecosurety Hub - a new, subscription-based website - all in an impressive timeframe of less than six months.

The Reason team focused on optimising time to market. They did this by using data to increase predictability and transparency, whilst reducing risk.

The team enabled Ecosurety decision-makers to re-prioritise from sprint to sprint - by running bite-sized workshops, establishing working agreements, roles and responsibilities, as well as agreeing on the right tools to use. 

The creation and analysis of flow-based forecasting metrics enabled the team to have powerful conversations on prioritisation. Transparency and a shared understanding of the data allowed everyone to reduce bottlenecks and optimise flow, allowing the new platform to be delivered in under 6 months.

Since successfully launching the Ecosurety Hub, customers now get access to: 

  • Members-only access to industry information and new legislation
  • Bespoke data dashboard with PowerBI integration
  • Visual data modelling using real company data

Results

The creation of the new, subscription-based website enabled Ecosurety to put a global store view in the palm of their customers' hands.
